21 Oct Sydney Derby Ends In A Dramatic Draw
Sydney FC have come back from 2-0 down, half n hour into the Sydney Derby to steal a point from rivals Western Sydney Wanderers.
In front of a vocal and loud Allianz Stadium, it didn’t take the Wanderers long to open the scoring through Spaniard Oriol Riera after 180 seconds.
Fouls came in thick and fast from both sides, and plenty of physicality in the early showing with both sides trying to assert their dominance in the derby.
Sydney FC veteran David Carney who was a late inclusion into the side gave a decent drive of the ball from long range, which was pipped by the Wanderers defence.
Wanderers made it 2-0 after 30 minutes from a Cejudo cross to a Brendon Hamill header, and the ball drove past former keeper Andrew Redmayne, and the Sky Blues looked in trouble.
Momentum went back to the home side as Carney was fouled in the box which saw Chris Herd get a yellow card, and Bobo convert from the spot to make it 2-1 at Half Time.

Sydney came out of the tunnel after Half Time with all the possession, and dominated from the outset of the second stanza.
It took the Sky Blues just over the hour mark to equalise the game from a Bobo pass to Josh Brillante who scored for the home side, and the score at 2-2.
Bobo and Robert Cornthwaite collided 7 minutes from the end of normal time, with both men looking ginger as they stayed on field.
Both sides pressed very late, with Bobo and Milos Ninkovic missing two vital opportunities to score the winner for Sydney to complete the comeback, but the final whistle sounded and the scores finished at 2-2.
