16 Nov Archie Thompson’s hat-trick: Sydney to bounce back against high-flying Jets
Football great Archie Thompson takes a look back over round 6 as well as casting the eye over round 7 of the Hyundai A-League.
The Central Coast Mariners took it up to the champions Sydney FC, winning 2-0 in a spirited display.
The Newcastle Jets once again put their stamp on the competition, winning 2-1 over Adelaide United. They’re no longer able to fly under the radar, sitting pretty at the top of the table.
And unfortunately the Melbourne Victory v Brisbane Roar game failed to live up to the hype.
And now we look ahead to Round 7 and Archie’s three most interesting points for the weekend in Archie’s Hat Trick.
Melbourne Victory legend Archie Thompson gives his weekly update of the Hyundai A-League, including ‘Archie’s Hat-Trick’.

Sydney to respond… but against the Jets?
“Sydney have come off a loss, the Jets are flying on top, so this is a top of the table clash. I’m thinking Sydney will bounce back.”
Can the Glory bounce back?
“After getting spanked 5-2 by Wellington…but then you’ve got a Victory side that’s bringing back key players.”
“I think Victory will be too good on that one.”
Brisbane Road need to win
“You want to see them obviously start performing because they’ve got great players with a lot of experience.”
“That team needs to start winning otherwise you might see them get the wooden spoon.”
