Youthful Adelaide Steal a Point from Sydney FC

It was an entertaining end to the last game of Round 16 between Adelaide United and Sydney FC, as they played out a nil-all draw at Coopers Stadium.

The Reds had some early opportunities in goals, and played the game in their half of the ground. Jordan O’Doherty, Dylan Adlung and Mark Ochieng all had great opportunities but were unable to convert.

Sydney FC midfielder Adrian Mierzejewski couldn’t get it past young United keeper Daniel Margush in a one-on-one contest.

Ersan Gulum suffered a knock early on in the game and was substituted out for Ben Warland which was a blow to the Reds.

16-year-old Adelaide debutant Lachlan Brook had a great start to his senior A-League career, and showed glimpses of what he can do in future Adelaide United games.

Adelaide also brought on debutant from the local NPLSA league Pacifique Niyongabire, who received a booking inside two minutes of coming on for an accidental studs up low impact tackle.

Adelaide United applied some late pressure in the forward third, meanwhile Luke Wilkshire had a great shot which he couldn’t get past Margush.

The young Adelaide United held off a senior Sydney FC to keep it to a nil all draw, with the Reds fans in complete excitement after holding the top of the table side.

Next week Adelaide United head to Melbourne to take on Melbourne City at AAMI Park, meanwhile Sydney FC will get a home game against the Central Coast Mariners.
