McCormack Denied Fairytale

Outgoing Melbourne City striker Ross McCormack could’ve ended his tenure at the club with a fairytale finish.

The on-loan striker from Aston Villa couldn’t get the decisive goal that would have given City the three points.

Jets centre back Nikolai Topor-Stanley got the visitors off to a fantastic start 180 seconds into the game, scoring a goal from a header. 19 year old Daniel Arzani showed why he is the future of Australian football with a great conversion from the spot to equalise the game minutes before Half Time.

Jets coach Ernie Merrick will be impressed with veteran Jason Hoffman, who has now scored 40% of his goals in the last five weeks of this season.

Hoffman scored a fantastic goal in the 70th minute, but City were able to quickly get an equaliser through playmaker Dario Vidosic. The recruit saved a point and an upset from brewing at home.

Luke Brattan and Stefan Mauk played brilliant roles for City tonight through the midfield, and will be an influential part of the team’s assault on Finals.

Newcastle Jets are looking to their experiencde players for more consistency, and will hope to bounce back after a tough fortnight against Melbourne Victory at McDonald Jones Stadium next week. Melbourne City head up north next week to take on an injury ravaged Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.
