07 May “Mark my words, Daniel Arzani will go to Russia”
Herald Sun chief football writer David Davutovic says Daniel Arzani is a certainty to be a member of Australia’s 2018 World Cup team.
Arzani was named in the initial squad today, and Davutovic is of the notion his blistering form in the A-League this season will enable him to make an impact for the Socceroos on the world’s biggest stage.
“They picked a 32-man extended squad which will be trimmed next week to 26, that 26 will go to Turkey for the pre-camp, and then that will finally be cut to 23,” he told SEN’s Time On.
“Mark my words, Daniel Arzani will go to Russia.
“It’s not confirmed, I think it depends on how he goes in Turkey, but I am that confident that the kid will go there and turn heads and wow Bert van Marwijk and his coaching staff, like he has in the entire A-League this season.
“He will end up going to Russia and may even play a part.”
Davutovic also expects Tim Cahill to make the final team, to provide a goal scoring threat when Australia needs one.
