30 Aug Report: Melbourne Victory close to signing Swedish World Cup star

Melbourne Victory are reportedly close to securing the signing of Swedish international Ola Toivonen.

According to a report from French publication Les Voilets, Toivonen has failed to report to training for his current Ligue 1 side Toulouse and is poised to join the reigning A-League champions.

The 32-year-old striker has won 64 caps, scoring 15 goals and recently participated at the World Cup in Russia, scoring against Germany in their group stage clash.

The former PSV Eindhoven, Stade Rennais and Sunderland hitman will reportedly sign under the salary cap and will provide the Victory with further attacking firepower alongside recent marquee signing Keisuke Honda.
