12 Sep Report: Italian World Cup winner set for shock FFA Cup appearance

Italian legend Andrea Pirlo is reportedly in negotiations with NPL side Avondale about a shock appearance in next week’s FFA Cup clash against Sydney FC.

According to Fox Sports, the former AC Milan and Juventus star is set to make a one-off appearance for the Victorian club in next Wednesday night's Quarter-Final at ABD Stadium.

Avondale have notified Pirlo’s agent regarding a guest marquee appearance against the reigning champions and lodged an official offer for the services of the 39-year-old.

Pirlo is a World Cup winner with Italy and regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, winning six Serie A titles and two Champions League crowns.
