08 Oct Matildas star Kerr nominated for inaugural women's Ballon d’Or
Matildas superstar Sam Kerr has been nominated for the first ever women’s Ballon d’Or award.
Kerr, along with 14 of the best players in the world, will be in the running to become the first female footballer to win the prestigious award in its 62-year history, chosen by French publication French Football.
It is the first time women will be recognised for football’s ultimate individual accolade
The 25-year-old forward enjoyed a prolific season for NWSL outfit Chicago Red Stars, winning the league’s Golden Boot award, while also leading Australia to Tournament of Nations glory, scoring four times in three games.
The ceremony will take place in Paris on December 3.
