30 Oct Individual errors costing Victory dearly: Muscat
Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat says individual errors at crucial times proved costly in their 3-2 defeat to Perth Glory at AAMI Park on Sunday.
A dramatic 93rd-minute goal from Chris Ikonomidis condemned the Victory to their second straight loss to start the new A-League season.
Muscat has demanded from his players for those mistakes to be quickly eradicated if the Victory are to get their title defence up and running.
“There’s been so many good things that we’ve sat back and analysed, and there’s areas obviously that need to improve on without doubt,” Muscat told SEN Breakfast.
“On the weekend we felt like we controlled the game very, very long periods, but the reality is that individual errors on the weekend at vital times has cost the team.
“As a team we need to get better at that and to get better as a team we’ve really got to improve in that area, because it holds you from progressing.
“If you look at it from one perspective, when we’re in possession of the ball and the amount of chances we’re creating, you can see the signs of progression.”
The Victory travel to Newcastle to take on the Jets in a rematch of last season’s Grand Final on Saturday night.
