Aussie youngster Arzani stretchered off in Celtic debut

Boom Australian youngster Daniel Arzani has been stretchered off just 20 minutes into his debut for Celtic this morning.

When trying to change direction, Arzani went down and clutched at his knee, prompting the club medicos to bring out the stretcher.

The 19-year-old was taken off the pitch at Dundee's Dens Park, but was seen walking on the sidelines after going down.

“Daniel (Arzani) looked as if he twisted his knee but didn’t appear so bad as he waved to the fans at the end,” Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers said.

Rodgers added Arzani will get scans on his knee tomorrow.

Arzani’s status for the Socceroos’ two upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Lebanon is now in question.

Arzani came on as a 57th-minute sub for the Hoops but suffered the injury after the reigning Scottish champions had made their three substitutions.

Celtic would go on to win the game 5-0, with Australian Tom Rogic scoring the opening goal.
