09 Nov In-form Brighton keeper Ryan deserving of PFA award: Schwarzer
Former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has lauded Australian shot-stopper Matthew Ryan after his superb recent form for Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ryan has elevated his game to a new level this season, keeping three consecutive clean sheets in October, and making more saves than any other keeper in the league.
The Aussie claimed the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award for October ahead of the likes of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Manchester City’s Fernandinho, Chelsea’s Ross Barkley and Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial.
“Maty Ryan has been excellent,” Schwarzer told SEN Mornings.
“He’s just got the PFA Fans' Player of the Month award and it just goes to show how well he’s been doing for Brighton this year.
“They’ve had three clean sheets in a row, obviously they lost last weekend, but other than that they’ve had a pretty good start to the season.”
Next up for Brighton is a trip to Wales to take on strugglers Cardiff City on Saturday.
