“One of the best performances I can remember”: Valeri lauds Victory’s Wanderers mauling

Melbourne Victory captain Carl Valeri has described their 4-0 demolishing of the Western Sydney Wanderers as one of the best performances he has seen during his time at the club.

After dropping their opening two games the Victory have won four consecutive games and are firing on all cylinders in attack, led by marquee signing Keisuke Honda.

Despite their impressive run of form, Valeri has demanded his side to avoid complacency ahead of their home clash with Adelaide United on Saturday night.

“We were saying amongst the boys that it was probably one of the best performances I can remember in a long time where everything went well,” Valeri told SEN Breakfast.

“I love talking about us winning four-from-four, it gives us a lot of confidence to do our jobs. But we have to really tear it back and look at why, how, what’s going right and what we can work on.

“I think if we have that mentality where we still want to build on things and improve, we can continue that form.

“If we sit back and say we’ve won four-from-four we’re doing pretty good, I think we’ll fall into a bit of a trap.”
