Are Pogba’s days at Manchester United numbered?

BBC sports broadcaster Jonny Gould says out of favour Manchester United star Paul Pogba could make a spectacular return to former club Juventus in the January transfer window.

Pogba has cut a forlorn figure in recent times having not started a Premier League match for United since their 2-2 draw against Southampton on December 1st.

Tensions continue to escalate between the Frenchman and under-fire Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, and Gould believes the midfielder would be reinvigorated under a new manager if Mourinho was to depart Old Trafford.

“It looks extremely likely that Pogba could be on his way in the transfer window and back to Juventus,” Gould told SEN Breakfast.

“However, if you’re looking at someone who is favourite to be sacked next, it is the current United manager Jose Mourinho – the subject of a possible return to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan for Inter.

“The possibility that his old favourite Real Madrid might come calling as well, so he’s still a class-A magnet for the major clubs.

“You just wonder that if Mourinho does go before Pogba, then maybe that World Cup winner might just be galvanised by a new coach – I certainly wouldn’t get rid of one of the best midfielders in the world, however poor his season has been so far.”

Pogbe re-joined Manchester United from Juventus for a then world-record fee of £89.3 million ($154.5 million) in 2016.

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute in United's dismal 3-1 defeat to Liverpool overnight.
