19 Dec Valeri wary of “unpredictable” Melbourne City
Melbourne Victory skipper Carl Valeri is wary of the threat that Melbourne City pose ahead of this weekend’s derby clash at AAMI Park.
The Victory head into the match in scintillating form having won their last six matches, scoring 17 goals in that period.
City claimed bragging rights in the first Melbourne Derby on the opening weekend of the A-League season, and Valeri is eager to set the record straight against their rivals.
“It’s a finals feeling mid-season – it’s a unique feeling,” Valeri told SEN Breakfast.
“They’re special games to play, people don’t like to say it’s special, but for me it’s special and for our club it’s special because of that unique atmosphere at the stadiums – these are exciting games.
“They’ve had some form of recent and they’re unpredictable.

“They score goals from all areas, there’s no pattern to their goal scoring, but they manage to score a fair amount of goals.
“We obviously pay our respect to them and study them as well just to understand what they’re doing, but we’ll be trying to build on all the positives things that we’ve done over the last seven-to-eight games.”
The reigning champions sit two points behind unbeaten league leaders Perth Glory ahead of the derby clash with City.
