08 Feb “Repay that faith”: City signing Maclaren aims to hit the ground running
Jamie Maclaren is ready to repay the faith shown by Melbourne City after securing his move to the A-League club.
Maclaren, 25, joined City on a multi-year deal that will see him elevated to marquee status from next season.
The Socceroos striker is keen to return to the sort of form that netted him the league’s Golden Boot for the Brisbane Roar in 2017.
“Striker pressure always comes no matter what level (you play),” Maclaren told SEN Mornings.
“You’re there to score goals and you’re there to produce. City have shown me faith by offering me the contract for 3.5 years and it’s now time for me to go out on the field and score those goals and repay that faith.
“I’m the same player that I was when I left the A-League (for Germany and Scotland) two years ago so nothing will change from my end.
"I’ll just look to hit the back of the net on a regular basis.”
Maclaren will look to make an immediate impact when he makes his City debut against Adelaide United at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
