12 Feb The "unnoticed" "advantage" NSW A-League teams have always had: Muscat
Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat is all for more teams entering the A-League, especially teams in Victoria, saying teams in New South Wales have had an “unnoticed” advantage since the competition begun.
Western United was granted the license to become Victoria’s third A-League side, with the team unveiling a green and black colour scheme yesterday.
They’ve also announced star signings in Socceroos fullback Josh Risdon and Greek international Panagiotis Kone.
“Where we should be looking as a code is to have more teams,” Muscat told SEN Breakfast.
Teams in New South Wales have had to travel less than anyone since the inception of the competition because they have four teams.
“Now it’ll start to even up a little bit with another team coming into Melbourne, so they’ve had an advantage that’s gone unnoticed for a number of years and from my perspective, from my team the merrier.”
When asked about Western United’s reveal of their name and colour scheme, Muscat mentioned he wasn’t a massive fan of the green and black, saying “I didn’t really take to much notice of it”.
