Report: FFA set to name Stajcic replacement

Ante Milicic is set to be appointed as interim coach of the Matildas, according to The Australian.

The former Socceroos assistant coach will lead Australia through to the conclusion of their 2019 Women's World Cup campaign in France.

Milicic will assume the vacant role following the controversial sacking of Alen Stajcic.

The 44-year-old worked as an assistant at Melbourne Heart alongside John van't Schip and at the Western Sydney Wanderers under Tony Popovic.

Football Federation Australia will hope to have a new head coach finalised before the Matildas host a three-game tournament in preparation for the World Cup in June.

Australia open the tournament against New Zealand in Sydney on February 28 before facing South Korea in Brisbane and Argentina in Melbourne.
