Rodgers appointed new Leicester City manager

Leicester City has confirmed the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as their new manager after leaving his job with Celtic.

Rodgers joined the Foxes on a three-year deal after being granted permission by the Scottish giants to speak to the Premier League club.

He replaces Frenchman Claude Puel who was sacked after Leicester’s 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“I’m very privileged and honoured to be here as Leicester City manager and I’ll give my life to make the supporters proud of their club,” Rodgers told Leicester’s official website.

"Together, we’ll be stronger and I’m looking forward to working with the players, staff and supporters to make the right steps forward.”

The Northern Irishman enjoyed a successful spell in Scotland, winning seven domestic trophies in two and a half years with the Hoops.

Rodgers, 46, returns to England’s top flight after managerial stints with Swansea City and Liverpool, where he almost won the Premier League title with the Reds in 2013/14.

Leicester have lost five of their past six games and sit 12th in the Premier League standings.
