01 Mar Manchester United captain set to depart
Antonio Valencia is set to depart Manchester United at the end of the season.
United decided against triggering an option to extend the defender’s contract that expired on Friday evening.
The club captain has featured just once since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager in December.
Valencia, 33, joined the Red Devils from Wigan in 2009 for a fee of £16 million and has gone on to make 338 appearances for the club.
The Ecuadorian has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, one FA Cup and one Europa League crown in a decade-long stay at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer’s side host Southampton on Saturday as they chase a top four finish in the Premier League.
