Report: Liverpool legend linked with A-League return

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is the favourite to become the Brisbane Roar’s new head coach, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The report states that Fowler has emerged as the leading contender for the top job after making a positive impression during the interview process.

Brisbane are on the hunt for a new coach after John Aloisi resigned from his post last December.

Fowler, 43, is no stranger to the A-League after spells with North Queensland Fury and Perth Glory between 2009 and 2011.

The Englishman was a player/coach for Thailand club Muangthong United in 2011 and took up a coaching role at Liverpool’s academy in 2013.

Known as “God” in the red half of Merseyside, Fowler scored 120 goals in 236 appearances for Liverpool as well as stints at Leeds United and Manchester City.
