02 May World Cup winning captain suffers heart attack
Spanish goalkeeping great Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack during a training session for his club side Porto.
Casillas, a World Cup winner in 2010 and two-time European champion in 2008 and 2012 with Spain, was rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition.
Porto released a statement saying: "Iker Casillas suffered an acute myocardial infarction during morning practice this Wednesday, at the PortoGaia Sports Formation and Training Centre, in Olival.
"The work session was promptly interrupted so that assistance could be given to the FC Porto goalkeeper, who is at this moment at the CUP Porto Hospital. Casillas is fine, stable and with his cardiac problem resolved."
Casillas, 37, is regard as one of the finest keepers of his generation after a decorated 13-year spell with Real Madrid where he won three Champions Leagues and five La Liga titles.
He remains Spain’s most-capped player with 167 appearances.
