12 May Premier League wrap: Manchester City win back-to-back titles
After 38 matchdays, Manchester City has claimed back-to-back Premier League titles by just one point over Liverpool.
City retained the Premier League trophy after a come-from-behind 4-1 win over Brighton.
Coach Pep Guardiola has now won eight league titles in his 10 seasons as coach.
However, they were challenged all the way up until the final day by Liverpool, who beat Wolverhampton 2-0.
Sadio Mane scored a brace which saw the Reds end on 97 points, the third highest total in Premier League history only behind City’s tallies this season and last.
In other results, Tottenham drew 2-2 with Everton, giving the Spurs a fourth place finish behind Chelsea, who played out a nil-all draw with Leicester.
Chelsea finished just one point ahead of Tottenham, while the Spurs only finished one point ahead of Arsenal, who won 3-1 against Burnley.
Manchester United had a dirty final day, losing to Cardiff 2-0 and finishing sixth on the table with 66 points.
Cardiff, along with Fulham and Huddersfield, were relegated and will head to the Championship next season.
Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reds duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane all scored 22 goals to claim the Golden Boot while Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker won the Golden Glove.
