14 May John from East Bentleigh's radical plan to fix Aussie soccer
John from East Bentleigh called into SEN Afternoons and provided what host Andy Maher described as the “most revolutionary call” he’s received in his 15 years with the radio station.
John believes winning the FIFA World Cup must be Australia’s number one priority and has suggested that we stop playing Aussies rules, including the AFL, for at least 10 years.
He then wants all of the athletes playing Aussies rules and all of the footy clubs that support them to turn into soccer players and clubs.
John guarantees if all of these resources are poured into soccer, that we will win a World Cup within 10 years.
“I’m European. I’m a Greek, 60 years in this country and I feel sorry for Australia because, I’m mad (AFL) supporter, I’m a Richmond fanatic, but to win the World Cup for Australia, my opinion, the whole of Australian people need to listen, we have to stop this ugly game (Aussie rules),” he told SEN Afternoons.
“Australian people have to listen. I love the football (Aussie rules), I’m fanatic Richmond … to win the World Cup you have to stop this game and we start again soccer.
“Stop Collingwood, North Melbourne, Richmond, Collingwood, whatever, otherwise soccer Australia never wins again.
“If Australia stop this game, we have to bring the top coaches here, the top teachers, 10 years time, Australia wins the World Cup.”
Have a listen to John’s plan for yourself.
