27 Jun Melbourne City appoint new head coach
Erick Mombaerts has been confirmed as Melbourne City’s new head coach on a three-year deal.
The Frenchman will take the reins following the departure of former boss Warren Joyce.
“I am delighted to join Melbourne City at this exciting time for the club,” Mombaerts told melbournecity.com.au.
“I am here to achieve two main objectives – to implement a style of play that gives the team a clear identity, and in doing so to win silverware.”
Mombaerts, 64, brings a wealth of experience and boasts an impressive CV having managed clubs such as Ligue 1 giants PSG, Toulouse FC and Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos.
He has also worked with 2018 World Cup winners Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann during his time coaching the French U18s and 21s.
