18 Jul Juventus clinch signing of Europe’s most sought after teen
Juventus has confirmed the signing of star teenager and Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax in a €75 million ($120m) deal.
De Ligt, 19, completed his medical tests on Wednesday before signing a five-year contract with the Italian champions.
Juve beat the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris-St Germain to the coveted signature of Europe’s most sought after youngster.
The central defender arrives in Turin with a big reputation having led the Eredivisie club to a domestic league and cup double as well as the semi-finals in last season's UEFA Champions League.
He is the younger player to captain Ajax when he assumed the armband in March 2018.
De Ligt made 94 appearances for the Dutch giants.
