Report: Socceroo in talks over Melbourne Victory return

Socceroos forward Robbie Kruse could be about to embark on a return to the A-League.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Melbourne Victory has held talks with Kruse who has emerged as one of the club’s main transfer targets.

It’s understood the four-time A-League champions are still some way off reaching an agreement following initial discussions.

The 30-year-old made 47 appearances for the Victory between 2009-2011 before moving to Germany and enjoying spells with Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart and Bochum.

New coach Marco Kurz is keen to strengthen Melbourne’s attacking options having lost Kosta Barbarouses to Sydney FC.

Kruse has won 75 caps for Australia and started in all three group games at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
