07 Aug Nabbout hits double but Jets down Victory as City progress in FFA Cup
Melbourne Victory went down to the Newcastle Jets in the FFA Cup Round of 32 last night in Marco Kurz’s first competitive game as coach.
Upon his return to the Victory, Andrew Nabbout scored a brace against his former club at AAMI Park but the visitors had the last laugh, coming away with a 3-2 extra-time win.
Former Jet Nabbout netted on the stroke of half-time and again on 61 minutes before John Koutroumbis pulled one back for Ernie Merrick’s side who then equalised through Dimi Petratos’ lovely left footed effort in the 81st.
The match was forced to extra-time and it was then when Newcastle pounced with substitute Patrick Langlois scoring his first professional goal to win it eight minutes from time.
