20 Aug Victory confirm capture of Austrian attacking midfielder
Melbourne Victory has announced the signing of Austrian attacking midfielder Kristijan Dobras.
The 26-year-old joins the four-time A-League champions on a one-year contract from Austrian Bundesliga club Rheindorf Altach.
Croatian-born Dobras scored 15 goals in 131 appearances for Rapid Wien, Grödig, Wiener Neustadt, Sturm Graz in both the first and second division in Austria.
“Kristijan is an exciting player who has developed a strong game in Austria,” Head Coach Marco Kurz told melbournevictory.com.au.
“We see a great opportunity for him to come to Victory and not only grow his game further, but also add a spark to our midfield, which we spoke about during our discussions with him.
“Thankfully these discussions with Kristijan proved very positive, and we’re lucky to have signed him for the season ahead.”
Dobras becomes the club’s second foreign signing following the arrival of German defender Tim Hoogland last week.
With two visa spots to fill, the Victory will look to make further reinforcements ahead of their season-opener against rivals Melbourne City on October 12.
