25 Sep Report: Besart Berisha linked with shock A-League return
Besart Berisha could be on his way back to the A-League.
According to SBS’ The World Game, Western United has emerged as the likely destination for Berisha, following a 13-month stint with Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
He failed to score in six substitute appearances and was subsequently released by the J-League club.
Berisha, a four-time A-League winner, scored 116 goals from 186 appearances in all competitions with the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory.
The 34-year-old Kosovo-born striker recently became an Australian citizen since becoming eligible in October 2017.
Western United has added the likes of Alessandro Diamanti, Panagiotis Kone, Josh Risdon and Scott McDonald to its squad ahead of the club's inaugural A-League season.
