13 Oct VAR intervenes in mundane Melbourne derby
Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City played out a 0-0 draw in last night’s derby clash at Marvel Stadium.
Elvis Kamsoba had given the Victory the lead on 56 minutes when he finished superbly after being played in by captain Ola Toivonen.
VAR would then intervene, denying Kamsoba his first A-League goal with replays showing the winger in an offside position.
The Burundi international’s backflip celebration was the highlight of an otherwise lacklustre match that never hit any great heights.

“It was a really bad game; a scrappy game,” Toivonen told Fox Sports post-game.
“The positive is that we kept a clean sheet and we’re feeling really solid in defence.”
Toivonen and City defender Harrison Delbridge clashed just before full time as frustrations boiled over. The pair picked up yellow cards for their troubles.
