04 Nov “He is in tears”: Son tackle leaves Everton midfielder with horrific injury
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has suffered a fracture dislocation of his right ankle during Sunday’s match against Tottenham.
Gomes landed awkwardly following a tackle from Spurs star Son Heung-min before the Portuguese collided with Son’s teammate Serge Aurier.
The South Korean, who was later sent off by referee Martin Atkinson, was in tears as he headed down the Goodison Park tunnel.
"I've just been into the changing rooms and he is devastated and he is in tears but it’s not his fault,” Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli told Sky Sports post-game.
"Sonny know he is one of the nicest people you will meet and he would never mean to do that and you can see that with his reaction.
"He can’t even pick his head up he is crying that much in the changing rooms. It’s never nice to see."
Alli gave Spurs a second half lead before Cenk Tosun equalised for the Toffees deep into stoppage time.
