20 Nov Under-19 side in Europe ship 43 goals in a week

Gibraltar's under-19 team had a week to forget, shipping 43 goals in three European Under-19 Championship qualifiers.

A 14-0 defeat to Austria was followed by a 13-0 loss to Ireland as the Gibraltarians sought an improved performance in their final game of the week against Switzerland.

Things only got worse, conceding 5-0 goals in 33 minutes to collapse to a 16-1 loss with the 10-men Swiss netting nine times in the second half.

Lorent Tolaj capitalised on Gibraltar’s dodgy defence with the Brighton and Hove Albion man scoring eight goals.

Gibraltar’s only goal from the three games came from the boot of Craig Galliano via the penalty spot.
