J-League within Postecoglou’s grasp in epic title race

Ange Postecoglou’s Yokohama F. Marinos are within two games of a historic J-League title.

Yokohama’s 1-0 win over Matsumoto Yamuga saw them leapfrog FC Tokyo into top spot for the first time this season.

Tokyo’s draw against Shonan Bellmare means the destination of the title rests in the hands of Postecoglou’s men.

The former Socceroos boss called for focus with Yokohama one-point clear at the summit.

"Just keep playing our football, that's what's got us to here," Postecoglou said post-game.

"We knew it was going to be a difficult game, but we kept our discipline and the players were fantastic. They worked hard and we deserved the three points."

Yokohama F.Marinos next face fourth placed Kawasaki Frontale before a final day showdown against Tokyo FC that will decide the J-League championship.

Postecoglou is aiming to become the first Australian manager to win the J-League.
