24 Nov Mark Bosnich doubles down on Victory criticism
Former Socceroo Mark Bosnich has doubled down on his criticism of Melbourne Victory, labelling their performance on Saturday night an “abject surrender”.
Bosnich was highly critical of the side on Fox Sports in the wake of their 3-1 loss against Adelaide United on Saturday night.
It was the Victory’s fourth loss of the season and sees them sit just one point off the bottom of the ladder in 10th spot.
Bosnich believes it’s time for new coach Marco Kurz to get to the bottom of their current form slump before it’s too late.
“When you play any sport, you’ve got to bring passion, competitive and willingness to fight,” he said on SEN Breakfast.
“To be coming up against their biggest rivals in Adelaide, I called it an abject surrender and it angered me.
“Especially from the biggest club in the country and I when I say that I mean the club has nearly 25,000 members.”
Bosnich said it was the body language he observed from Victory’s players on Saturday night which was most concerning.
“Marco Kurz has just come into the club so he’s got to make do with what he’s got but he has brought in some players so he’s got to take a bit of responsibly too,” he said.
“The way they’re playing, their body language is saying they’re not happy. Kurz needs to get to the bottom of this, he’s in charge so he needs to see them one-on-one because as a group some players may be shy and won’t want to say what they really want to say in front of the boys.
“If this continues on, it’s shaping up as a season where Victory don’t make the top six and the code can’t afford for a club that size not to make the top six.”
