06 Dec Mooy, Ryan shine as Brighton stun abject Arsenal
Socceroos duo Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan have led Brighton and Hove Albion to 2-1 victory over an abject Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Mooy’s inviting cross set up Neal Maupay’s winner in the 80th minute to condemn the Gunners to their longest winless run since 1977.
It’s the Seagulls’ first win at Arsenal and snapped a run of three consecutive defeats, lifting them to 13th in the Premier League.
Adam Webster gave Brighton an early lead before Alexandre Lacazette restored parity for Freddie Ljungberg’s side on 50 minutes.
Mooy ran the show against a disjointed Arsenal team, winning the most tackles for either side and recording the most dribbles and passes of any Brighton player in a complete midfielder performance from the Australian.
Socceroos goalkeeper Maty Ryan also impressed, making a string of impressive saves to deny the club he supported growing up.
