13 Feb WATCH | Injury time stunner puts Matildas on the brink of Tokyo Olympics
A last-gasp strike from Emily van Egmond has helped the Matildas salvage a 1-1 draw against China in their 2020 Olympic qualifying match in Sydney.
Van Egmond’s injury time stunner cancelled out Tang Jiali’s 86th minute goal that put China on the brink of an upset win at Bankwest Stadium.
Australia topped Group B ahead of China on goal difference, meaning they avoided a home-and-away play-off against world No.20 South Korea.
Group A runners-up Vietnam await the Matildas for a spot in Tokyo. The first leg takes place at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on March 6.
