30 Mar Premier League star wants season cancelled if not completed by this date
Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has called for the Premier League season to be cancelled if it’s not completed by June.
Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, all football in the United Kingdom has been suspended until at least April 30 with Liverpool just two wins away from a first league title in 30 years.
Speaking to former Spurs and Reds midfield Jamie Redknapp in an Instagram Live conversation, Kane said: “I know the Premier League will do everything they can to finish the season, and that they are looking at every option possible.
“I think, for me, we do need to try to finish the season. But there needs to be a point where enough is enough.
“Playing into July or August and pushing next season back I don’t see too much benefit in that. But obviously I don’t know too much about behind the scenes and financially.
“Probably the limit for me is the end of June. If the season is not completed by the end of June we need to look at the options and just look forward to next season.”
It was announced last month that Euro 2020 has been postponed to 2021 as the COVID-19 crisis continues to cause havoc across Europe.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin conceded the European football season could “be lost" if it wasn’t re-started by June.
