Melbourne Victory captain Carl Valeri says Keisuke Honda’s arrival at the club has rejuvenated him for the new campaign.
Victory kick-off their 2018/19 A-League season tomorrow night against Melbourne City, and Valeri has explained how having someone of Honda’s pedigree around the club has helped him personally heading into the opener.

“He is tops…he comes across as very laidback in the media and speaks very calm and slowly, but he is one of the boys who gets involved in all the jokes and he does all the team things like any other player,” Valeri told SEN Breakfast.
“He is a true professional the way he goes about his work.

“He has brought, for me personally, a breath of fresh air, where as last year I was one of the older guys.
“He has come in and brought that enthusiasm back for me to get all the little details right, which he does perfectly and relentlessly.”
