03 Nov Usain Bolt speaks exclusively to SEN about Mariners departure
Olympic champion Usain Bolt has spoken exclusively to SEN about how he and the Central Coast Mariners failed to come to an agreement on a contract for the A-League season.
Bolt had an offer on the table from the Mariners, but a third party was required in order to meet the financial demands of the 32-year-old.
The eight-time Olympic gold medal winner said he wasn’t disappointed by the news.
“It’s just one of those things, I would’ve loved to continue, but we couldn’t work the contract out so it’s just one of those things,” he told SEN.
Bolt said he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of trying again with the A-League in the future.
“You never know,” Bolt said.
“There are opportunities out there, you’ve just got to make it happen so we’ll see.”
Bolt released this statement yesterday, thanking the Mariners for the opportunity.
"I would like to thank the Central Coast Mariners owners, management, staff, players and fans for making me feel so welcome during my time there. I wish the club success for the season ahead,” Bolt told Central Coast’s website.
