Bosnich pushes Foster’s case for FFA board inclusion

Former Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has thrown his support behind Craig Foster’s push to join the Football Federation Australia board.

Foster is the popular choice to replace Steven Lowy has the new chairman of the FFA after impressing during Monday night’s FFA board forum.

Bosnich would like to see Foster gain more experience at board level before taking on the role as chairman of football’s governing body.

“I think he would be a good chairman,” Bosnich told SEN Breakfast.

“I’ve told him this but I think he should get on the board first.

“I think he can learn what’s going on in terms of what goes on at board room level then maybe in three-to-four years time go to chairman.”

Foster is one of 11 candidates vying to join the FFA board and Bosnich has implored the four elected members to have the sport's best interests at heart.

“There are all really, really good candidates and it is a massive opportunity right now for the game to take it forward,” Bosnich added.

“I just hope whoever is on the board that they make sure that the do what is right for the game, you’ve got to take into considering what the stakeholders want, because they’re the guys who vote you in.

“Long term it’s got to be for the game and that’s exactly what’s needed.”
