16 Nov Foster withdraws FFA board, chairman nomination
Former Socceroo Craig Foster has officially withdrawn his nomination to join and chair the FFA board.
Foster was seen as the popular choice to join the new-look board and replace Steven Lowy as chairman due to his footballing expertise and passion for the game in Australia.
A lack of stakeholder support was the reason behind Foster’s decision to cease his campaign to join the governing body.
“Despite the amazing support of our football community around the country, it has become clear that I do not have the necessary stakeholder support to succeed in my candidacy for the board and as chairman of FFA,” Foster said in a statement.
“Accordingly, I have notified FFA of the withdrawal of my nomination.”
