New FFA chairman announced

Chris Nikou has been announced as the new chairman of the FFA replacing the outgoing Steven Lowy.

Heather Reid – who is a former CEO of W-League side Canberra United and seen as a key player in the establishment of the Women’s World Cup – has been named as Nikou’s deputy.

Nikou is a former chairman of Football Federation of Victoria, a former Melbourne Victory board member and director of Big Bash League side Melbourne Renegades.

Reid, Nikou, Remo Nogarotto and Joseph Carrozzi were all elected to the new-look FFA board on Monday afternoon.

Elected chair Nikou says addressing A-League expansion is high on his priority list.
"Expansion is very, very important. It’s probably the number priority that we need to address." Nikou said.

"What I would like to see happen is that new board members get given a detailed briefing of the merits of each of the bids, and as soon as we can get through that process it will be the first order of business for the new board.

"I’d certainly like to see it (expansion) for the following A-League season if we can."
