03 Dec Sam Kerr misses out on Women’s Ballon d'Or
Matilda’s star Sam Kerr has finished fifth in the inaugural Women’s Ballon d'Or.
Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg won the prestigious award ahead of Denmark's Pernille Harder, Hungarian ace Dzsenifer Marozsan and Brazilian great Marta.
Hegerberg, 23, scored a tournament-record 15 goals for French club Lyon in the Women’s Champions League last season.

Despite falling short, Kerr had a brilliant 2018 for both club and country, netting 16 goals in 20 games for MLS side Chicago Red Stars and scoring on eight occasions for Australia.
The 25-year-old forward won the NWSL golden boot, the PFA Women’s Footballer of the Year and ESPY Award for Best International Women’s Soccer Player.
