Fornaroli saga “elephant in the room” for City says Moss

Former Central Coast Mariners coach Phil Moss says the Bruno Fornaroli saga is the “shadow” hanging over Melbourne City heading into 2019.

City got their new year’s campaign off to a strong start last night with a 2-0 win over Western Sydney, but Moss says until they sort things out with Fornaroli, it will remain a storyline.

Fornaroli hasn’t played in almost two months, falling out of favour with coach Warren Joyce after a reported dispute and concerns about the striker’s skinfolds.

“They’ve got to sort this Fornaroli thing out quick smart…that’s the shadow, that’s the elephant in the room that just keeps hanging over Melbourne City,” Moss told SEN Mornings.

“It must be killing their supporters and also the players in the dressing room to see Bruno Fornaroli, a player of that stature who has so many goals in him, sitting in the grandstands.

“It’s a complete waste of talent, it’s a complete waste of money from the club's point of view.

“If he is not going to play again under Warren Joyce, let him move on, bring someone else in and move on with the season.”
