Jordan shock the Socceroos in Asian Cup stunner

Australia suffered a disappointing defeat in the Asian Cup overnight, going down to Jordan 1-0.

The reigning champs’ title defence got off to as poor a start as possible when Anas Bani Yaseen scored in the 26th minute of the game.

Playing catch-up from there, the Aussies failed to convert despite nine more shots than their opponents.

Australia dominated the game, with Jordan controlling possession for only 22 per cent of the game, but their inability to take advantage and score was the difference.

The Socceroos will face Palestine on Friday in a chance to get back among the winners.
