Perth Glory CEO responds to reported Fornaroli/Keogh swap deal

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata has remained coy on the idea of a potential swap deal involving in-form striker Andy Keogh and out-of-favour Melbourne City star Bruno Fornaroli.

The Herald Sun reported that a “marquee player trade” between Keogh and Fornaroli is a “real possibility” with the Glory set to offer the 31-year-old a multi-year deal and an escape route from City after falling out with coach Warren Joyce.

Joyce has previously worked with Keogh having managed him at youth level during his time at English club Leeds United back in 2003/04.

“It’s just speculation,” Pignata told SEN Afternoons.

“Especially at this time of the year when the transfer window opens up there’s a lot of names thrown around and we all know that Bruno’s not playing at the moment at City.

“I’m not sure what they’re doing there but for us at the moment it’s just speculation.

“I haven’t spoken to David (Davutovic) about this at all so being a Melbourne journalist it’s just coming out of Melbourne at the moment, so we’re a little bit in the dark about this to be honest.

“They’re probably thinking what to do with Bruno and that’s the sort of speculation that has come out to be honest.”

“Good players are always going to attract interest, especially at the moment when we’re doing well on the top of the ladder. Andy’s a good player, Bruno’s a good player.

“Last week he scored a brace and got another goal on the weekend and he’s in fine form, so of course there is going to be interest in Andy as well.”

Fornaroli hasn’t made an appearance for City in two months while Keogh has netted seven times for the Glory and sits in third in the race for the A-League Golden Boot.
