21 Jan “All we’re left with is speculation”: Bolton demands clarity around Stajcic sacking
Former Socceroos goalkeeper Clint Bolton has called on the FFA to come clean with their reasoning behind the shock sacking of former Matildas coach Alen Stajcic.
Stajcic’s contract was terminated by the governing body just months before the Women’s World Cup after an internal review into the workplace culture of the national team.
Bolton wants the specifics of the cultural findings to be revealed in order for the footballing public to gain some clarity surrounding his departure.

“Until they (the FFA) release the real reason or the particulars of why they got rid of Alen, then we’re all left in this cloud and this fog of just speculating,” Bolton told SEN Afternoons.
“When you think about the whole situation, it’s not isolated, there’s always issues in football which point back to the real root of the issue – and that’s leadership.
“This all reflects back to the FFA and the way they handled these situations and allow these situations to eventuate.
“Because the details haven’t come out, what it’s done is prove really divisive to the football community.
“Whereas (if we had) clarity and details, everyone would know exactly where they stood and then we can move forward from there and have some proper real discussion which is grounded in some truth.
“But at the moment all we’re left with is speculation, heat, divisiveness, extreme points of view, venom being spitted on social media, so it’s a horrible situation.”
A number of Matildas players including Clare Polkinghorne, Lisa De Vanna and Sam Kerr took to social media to express their hurt following the dismissal of Stajcic.
The 2019 Women’s World Cup gets underway on the 7th of June in France.
