29 Jan Report: City’s Maclaren transfer hits roadblock
Jamie Maclaren’s expected transfer to Melbourne City has hit a last minute roadblock, with the Socceroos star relying on an overseas release to get the deal done.
According to the Herald Sun, City were planning on unveiling Maclaren by Thursday’s deadline day, in hopes he could debut in Sunday’s clash with Sydney FC.
However, Scottish club Hibernian has no obligation to release Maclaren. He is on a season-long loan deal with the club, whose manager departed earlier this week.

There are also complications with Maclaren’s main club Darmstadt, the report states.
City officials now need to wait and see if the 25-year-old striker will be released from the European clubs.
Maclaren’s preference is to join Melbourne, and he has reportedly verbally agreed to sign with City.
