Fulham sack Ranieri after 16 games in charge

Fulham has sacked manager Claudio Ranieri after just four months in charge of the struggling Premier League club.

The Italian won just three of 16 matches with the Cottagers as they languish in second bottom position, 10 points from safety with 10 games remaining.

Ranieri replaced Slavisa Jokanovic in November with the London outfit sitting bottom of the Premier League with five points from 12 games.

His final game was Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to fellow cellar dwellers Southampton.

Ranieri remarkably led Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2016 before returning to England after a short spell with French club Nantes.

Fulham returned to England’s top flight and became the first promoted to spend over £100 million ($174 million) in the summer transfer window.

Former Fulham captain Scott Parker was named as caretaker manager.

Parker’s first game in charge is against former club Chelsea at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
