22 Apr Liverpool downs Cardiff to return to top of EPL table
Liverpool has returned to the top of the EPL table with a 2-0 win over Cardiff overnight.
Manchester City previously occupied top spot with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tottenham – just days after their Champions League heartbreak.
But the Reds also composed themselves upon their return to the Premier League, knowing that they had to secure a win against Cardiff.
After a scoreless first half, Georginio Wijnaldum broke the deadlock with a powerful strike in the 51st minute.
What a hit, and what a way to return to the top of the #PremierLeague.

The Reds extended their margin after James Milner converted a penalty in the 81st minute, following a foul on Mohamed Salah by Cardiff's Sean Morrison.

The Sky Blues can regain top spot with a win in the Manchester derby on Wednesday, which will put them in pole position to retain their title with three games remaining.
The Reds return home to host relegated Huddersfield Town next Friday.
